Extra-Curricular Activities

Design and Technology Department Lunchtime Club

A new lunchtime club is available for pupils in Design and Technology. On a Wednesday lunchtime S1 and 2 pupils are invited to take part in our first project, a Design and Manufacture activity down in the workshop. We will be working on a wooden model, learning practical skills as well as elements of design. This will complement and enhance the knowledge and skills pupils are working on in our S1 and 2 Curriculum for Excellence course. Remember, space in the workshop is limited so priority will be given to those pupils who are wanting to keep up with their Design and Technology skills.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme

Now known as the DofE, this voluntary, non-competitive programme is open to all pupils between S3 and S6.  It is an extra curricular activity offered at three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold. To gain the Award, a pupil has to spend a certain amount of time helping as a volunteer, developing a skill, developing a physical programme and undertaking an expedition. In addition, Gold candidates have to spend a week on a residential experience. At the present time around 60 pupils and seven members of staff are involved in the scheme.
